Homeopathic case-takings are highly detailed. In order for the homeopath to determine your personal treatment plan, they need to obtain specific information. A detailed understanding of who you are is needed to accurately assess your case. Anything you can tell your homeopath that is typical of your personality traits will help this process. The homeopath will also enquire about your general energy level, your past medical history and the way you live. These are all important. Your information will be treated highly confidential.
Homeopathic medications may be used effectively with other medications. We do, however, encourage you to inform your homeopath of all the medications that you are currently taking. If you develop a cold, headaches, or any symptoms that concern you, please discuss them with your homeopath, who can give you advice.
You may experience several things when you start taking your homeopathic medication. You may start to recover and keep on doing so. This is a good sign that your medication is working effectively. Sometimes a cold, rash or some form of discharge may appear as a detox effect which means your system is going through a cleaning stage. Similarly, old symptoms can reappear, usually for a short period. These symptoms will pass, and must not be treated, as they are a very important part of the healing process. This reaction doesn’t usually last long and periods of 24 – 72 hours are usually recorded. You may discuss these periods with your homeopath, should you have any concerns.
It is also advised that you attend the follow-up consultations booked for you. It is important to see your homeopath on a continual basis to assess the progress of your disease. You might also want to make notes of any changes and take them with you to discuss at your next appointment. This way you will have an informed choice regarding the treatment of your disease condition.
Your homeopath will formulate a treatment plan for you. The period of treatment depends on the type of illness / disease that you are experiencing, as well as other symptoms that are characteristic to your case. The homeopath will only be able to predict your recovery time after observing your initial response to the remedies given to you during your first consultation. Complaints that you have been experiencing for many years, or that have developed slowly, may not disappear immediately. These conditions slowly improve over time. Homeopathy has shown to be highly effective in short-term ailments. Patients may find relief sometimes in just minutes. Homeopathy cleanses the body from the inside outward. Skin complaints are usually the last to clear. Patients are advised to be patient. In the long term it is better for you to be free of both the cause of the illness and its symptoms, rather than suppressing the symptoms.
The homeopath will ask you about your usual diet and lifestyle, and may suggest changes, especially if it seems that these factors contribute to your illness. We recommend that you should maintain your relationship with your GP. Your GP will be able to arrange any tests or X-rays you may need. This treatment plan will be discussed with you to ensure that you understand it and are satisfied with the plan. |
